The Hermetic Sliding Cleanroom Door opens by sliding on a rail rather than swinging, which means it needs no door-swing clearance in front of the opening. The leaf and frame are made of cold-rolled steel sheet with a high-temperature baked paint, or of 304 stainless steel, with a 1.2 mm frame and a 0.8 mm leaf filled with paper honeycomb or aluminum honeycomb for a light, rigid panel. A double-layer tempered-glass viewing window can be set into the leaf, the lock hardware is configured to the project, and the door runs as a single sliding leaf or a pair of opposing sliding leaves. Because the leaf travels sideways along the wall instead of arcing into the room, the opening is kept clear even while the door is open, and the flat stainless face wipes clean like the rest of the cleanroom envelope. The running track is mounted above the door head, so there is no floor track to catch trolleys or collect dirt at the threshold.

The buying reason is floor space at the threshold. A swing door needs roughly a full leaf-width of clear arc on the clean side, and in narrow corridors, material buffers or rooms that already sit full of equipment, that arc collides with shelving, benches or trolleys that cannot be moved. The sliding leaf stows itself along the wall, so the corridor width stays usable the whole time the door is open - which matters where carts pass through while the door is being held. Offering single-leaf or double-leaf sliding also lets the buyer match the opening to the actual wall width, rather than forcing a swing arc into a doorway that was never meant to have one. The side-travel motion also puts less repeated side-load on the frame than a swung leaf that has to be pushed closed every pass.
